(Jan. 27, 2012) For the third Friday Phone Briefing of the 2012 legislative session, Jocelyn McCabe, AWB vice president of Communications, is joined by Gary Chandler, AWB vice president of Government Affairs, Kris Tefft, AWB general counsel and government affairs director, and Don Brunell, AWB president.
Chandler discusses the lack of progress made by the legislature on a balanced budget. He also discusses the proposed transportation package.
Tefft discusses proposed paid sick leave, workplace bullying and other employer-employee related legislation.
Finally, Brunell joins us to discuss a new report released by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce comparing employment laws from all 50 states. It rates Washington "poor" due to a number of factors including numerous employer mandates and high workers compensation and unemployment insurance costs.
